François Chatillon invited to Columbia University

On Wednesday 21 October 2026, François Chatillon will give a lecture atColumbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in New York, as part of its lecture series dedicated to heritage preservation.

He will present his vision of architectural heritage and the method that guides the studio’s work. The common thread of the lecture is the restoration of the Walcourt Chapel in Givet, an 18th-century building that raises questions of history, identity, time, materiality and transformation. For François Chatillon, working with heritage is neither about repairing the past nor returning to an earlier state: it is always a project. From the Walcourt Chapel to the Grand Palais, he will show how the same method applies across very different scales, uses and periods.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion with students and the audience.
