The Luxor Obelisk finally recovered its splendor of olden times. The restoration of Paris' oldest monument ended in may. The intervention included the restoration of the monolith and its pedestal, its podium and the enclosing fence. The restoration of the Obelisk marks the beginning of the bicentenary commemorations to celebrate the deciphering of hieroglyphics by Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Champollion. Parisians and tourists are now able to rediscover the restored monument in its best light.<\/p>\r\n
